Friends had acquired a big, beautiful Boa that grew so large, that while its head was downstairs, its tail was still upstairs.

Its skin felt warm, and it moved in a rhythmic way that was totally mesmerising. Though the best part was watching the large parts of snakeskin that came off allowing him to grow, the emergence of the beautiful skin underneath, showing an amazing way of changing with flow and ease.

As a shamanic practitioner, I feel the connection and magic that the animals are bringing us. The snake talks of grounding, of connection to the earth, slowing down and being aware of our path, and the steps we are taking.

But snake also brings amazing medicine, the ability to change and adapt. Often when you have a strong reaction to snake, it is worth seeing what is coming up for you. If you have resistance to change, why? What is holding you. Sometimes even in our growing awareness of seeing our resistance, Snake brings us lessons to investigate. You may also be avoiding grounding, many Air or Water signs especially may feel this and not want to come back to earth.

Connecting to Snake is an invitation to connect to the earth, with warmer weather here, take the opportunity to connect to the earth, sitting and laying on the ground. Earthing is the term that describes this connection, and it allows us to reset ourselves. Why not try laying face down, or in the recovery position if comfortable, and connect to the earth. Allow your solar plexus and tummy button to rest on the earth and breath through this into the space that is connected. Children do this naturally and can lay and play and talk.

If you are around young children invite then to come and be the snake, wiggle, slowly move and embody the snake. Welcome the feeling of grounding and connection and breath in any change that you want to make with ease and grace.
